Types of Shutters

A shutter is nothing but a covering consisting of frames having vertical as well as horizontal rails. There are window shutters, which act as a covering for the window and the frame can be filled with any material like glass, fabric and solid impanels or any other material that’s fixed within the frame. Shutters are hired for lot of reasons like controlling the light, giving some privacy, shielding from the rain and heavy heat and also to increase the beauty of the building.

The shutters are of two types, both interior as well as exterior. Interior shutter will have the flexible joint on either portion of the opening of the window and lilt towards inside, to permit light or wind to enter the room. Some shutters will have louvers which are just like fins of a fish, which is fixed as parallel slats and such operable shutters can regulate the flow of air and light. Such shutters having louvers are named as California shutters. They are also known as plantation shutters or traditional shutters. Some interior shutters use louvers that won’t rotate and framed solid panels that can be lifted or else fabric or tinted glass that can be inserted. Shutters can be organized as both single and multiple tiers, where single tier will have one complete shutter from top to bottom, while multiple tiers will have independent separate openings, where the top, middle and bottom can be opened separately.

Another type of shutter which will open only at the bottom part are called café type shutter. Full height shutter is the one, which will have a splitter to divide both the top and bottom portions in the shutter. Operable louvers are most suitable for it .In operable louvers, a rod will be used, in order to keep them in uniformity. From various types of wood or synthetic materials, it can be molded into any shape and painted according to your taste. Even when the louvers are destroyed, you can replace it with a new one.

Another kind of shutter is roller shutter where, the shutter consists of various bars or slats horizontally which are joined together. It is used for both the doors and windows.
